This magical, saffron-colored spice called Turmeric is one of the most natural healers. Hailing from India and Indonesia, Turmeric has been used for over 5000 years as a therapeutic remedy and textile dye.
Its benefits are tremendous, tried and true!

A natural anti-inflammatory, Turmeric helps treat arthritis, and unlike other drugs, does not produce toxicity or other significant side effects. It improves liver function while detoxifying it, speeds up healing of wounds and damaged/inflammatory skin conditions as it is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial disinfectant, is a natural painkiller,  prevents the oxidation of cholesterol in the body, and as a powerful antioxidant, boosts the body's immunity and neutralizes free radicals, thus warding off tumorous growth.

There are tons of fun ways to incorporate Turmeric into your recipes:
Sprinkle on eggs, in brown rice with currants, cashews and coriander, in curries, in salads, on cauliflower and broccoli, in stir frys, and my personal favorite: on avocados!
Avocado spread on toast in one of my fav, quick & easy breakfast moves. It's filling and nutritious, yummy and oh so satisfying:

Avocados have a rich supply of the antioxidants Vitamins C, E and beta carotene--- the only true way to fight off free radicals. They're also high in monounsaturated fat (the good fat), which is associated with lowering blood pressure, as well as essential protein and fiber. Sprinkle dashes of sea salt, black pepper and Turmeric, adding a bit of color and kick!
Happy Antioxidizing!
