According to the Environmental Working Group's latest report, about 92% of sunscreens on the shelf don't adequately protect skin damage from the sun, contain toxic chemicals, or both. Follow these tips and never get burned again:

*DO get the lotion kind. You're likely to inhale chemicals if you spray or powder it on. It's also easier to miss spots with sprays.
*DO get a broad-spectrum sunscreen with zinc oxide, titanium oxide, or avobenzone to ward off damaging UV rays.
*DON'T use sunscreen that contains oxybenzone (a common allergen and a hormone disrupter that can penetrate skin easily) or Vitamin A (which makes skin more sun-sensitive and thus susceptible to tumor growth).
*ALWAYS slather and repeat. Use an ounce (about a shot glass-full) all over your body and reapply every two hours.

sunscreen daily, even on cloudy days, is a msut! a moisturizing sunscreen should be used for us ladies, especially, trying to prevent sun damage = aging! don't leave home w/o it on!

my musts for the face: Vanicream spf60 cream for winter and sport spf35 for summer. scentless and free of fragrance or chemicals, it is NON GREASY! and dermatologist preferred. $12-$14 tube lasts over a year!

a great new find for the body: Burn Out, a new eco-friendly paraben-free sunscreen that is waterproof and fast-absorbing. no shine, no grease. i even use it on tip of nose and cheekbones for extra humid days. a bit pricier but a little goes a long long way.

As a child, I never wore sunscreen, which I regret! But once I hit 18, I started to slather it on me, and now I never leave the house with at least 40 SPF. Thank you for the informative post!
